Characteristics of Semi-rigid Coaxial Cable

              Semi-rigid coaxial cable is widely used in RF applications and can be regarded as a coaxial transmission cable composed of metal tubes. The metal tube is generally a copper tube forming an outer conductor, and a metal wire conductor is arranged along the center core of the copper tube. The metal wire conductor of the center core is supported by dielectric material, so that the metal wire can be kept on the same central axis of the outer conductor.

Wide frequency range and application
Normally, the semi-rigid coaxial cable assemblies can support RF signal transmission up to 65GHz, and can be raised to 110GHz by using cable assemblies terminated with 1.0mm connectors.

Semi-rigid coaxial cables are rigid enough to retain their shape, and also flexible enough to be manually bent. Semi-rigid coaxial cables are often bent into various shapes during service, which is extremely risky for coaxial cables. Even for coaxial cables made of aluminum and soft copper, it is recommended to use special tools for bending to reduce the risk of cable damage.
Electrical stability
Semi-rigid coaxial cable is made of polymer material, compared with flexible coaxial cable, has very high electrical stability. Many metal and dielectric materials will cause characteristics change due to temperature changes. For some rigorous components or systems, the electrical stability and the phase stability are particularly important.
Low intermodulation
As a kind of signal wire, the anti-interference ability of semi-rigid coaxial cable is also one of the necessary characteristics. It has excellent passive intermodulation performance when combined with the right connector. Most of the modern multifrequency wireless communication system, included the distributed antenna system related equipment, choice semi-rigid coaxial cable.
